Samuel de Champlain High School is a large secondary school in the Val-de-Marne department. More than 2,050 pupils and students attend the school, where over 170 teachers provide more than 30 courses, including baccalaureate and BTS programmes. It has held the level 1 E3D label since 2016, reflecting its commitment to a comprehensive sustainable-development approach.
A meeting with the school management highlighted its strong environmental commitment. In addition to classrooms, the school has well-equipped facilities for learning many construction trades that are essential to the ecological transition. Its extensive green spaces also include a large pond that supports biodiversity.
Given the school’s strong interest in environmental education, a presentation session was organised for students. It introduced the game, its themes and its many possible uses.
Samuel de Champlain is known as the founder of Quebec. He was also a French navigator, cartographer, soldier, explorer, geographer, ship commander and chronicler. Thanks to his perseverance, a French presence became established in North America at the beginning of the seventeenth century. Eco6themes has already been used in Quebec by a teacher with her class.
We hope that further large-scale educational projects can be developed with the school and the city.
